Lockmaster's house.

Small but well-built homes were provided to operators of the locks. This one was renovated and preserved by the National Park Service.

New dolls found behind the lock master's house.

I was taking photos of the back of the house and noticed these two brand-new-looking dolls lying in the brush behind a big tree. Being just after Halloween, I figure some kid snatched them off of a neighbor's porch then had second thoughts about keeping them. -- Or - Maybe they're cursed and were just hiding here until some unsuspecting victim happened by!

Second chance.

I couldn't leave them lying in the leaves so I placed them on the doorstep. Hopefully they'll find a good home.

Derelict coal-fired power plant.

Adjacent to the park, this hulk sits as a monument to the EPA regulations putting the coal business out of business.

I heard noises from inside.. or maybe it was just my imagination! ;)
